Yes! I do private coaching, adult workshops, and interview workshops. Please contact me to find out more.
Middle school can be such a challenging time in life. It’s definitely a time when many kids struggle with self- confidence. My class is a safe space where young people can open up and be themselves, and find out that they’re not alone in their struggles. I love working with people of all ages, but I especially enjoy providing a place where youth can grow in creativity, confidence and connection.
The maximum number is 8 students. This small group environment creates a safe space and allows students to really get to know one another. It also allows more time for their individual growth with more opportunities to speak.
Speak & Be Heard is a 10-week class, held during the academic school year. We meet once a week, after school.
It will meet on Wednesday afternoons after school. The time is to be determined.
It’s located at my studio space in Petaluma, near Schollenberger Park. The address is 3820 Cypress Drive, #3, and there's plenty of parking available.
I encourage carpooling and will help you connect with the other parents to hopefully make this happen.
Yes, unless they are sick. There are a lot of team activities and activities in pairs. It is important for everyone to be a team player.
Yes, each student will be required to write a short personal story that they will learn and present to our class, and then present again at graduation. They will also be required to meet with me one-on-one for at least one hour of coaching outside of the regular class time. This coaching will help them feel more capable and comfortable in delivering their story in front of others. I will even spend extra time if needed. My only goal is their success!
I’m not a big fan of homework so I truly try to give them as little as possible. I actually spend a lot of time myself editing their stories and helping them succeed. However, preparation and practice are the keys to public speaking success. When the students do this work, I see incredible growth in skills and confidence.
Yes. All the work we do in class is showcased that night. The story the students write and learn will be shared that evening. It’s their time to shine in front of an audience in a supportive, lighthearted environment.
It’s $400 per student. (That’s just $40 a week).
When you register for the class, you will be prompted to pay through PayPal, which also provides a credit card option. Alternatively, you can pay with Venmo. When you sign up, I’ll send you my Venmo information. Or you may send a check to Cara Wasden, 3820 Cypress Drive #3, Petaluma, CA 94954.
